SEA TURTLE IN THE STREAM
Despite the long duration and expense of getting to and from the northeast canyons, it is days like this that keep bringing you back. You never know what you will cross paths with once out in the abyss.
The wind and current clump together Sargassum weed into patches thus creating shelter for juvenile fish, reptiles and crustaceans from predators. Once spotted you only know how much life it is holding by taking a look from underneath.
At first glance not much was seen other than some juvenile jack fish swimming below the surface. Until I spotted something nestled in the underwater forest of Sargassum weed just below the surface. Upon approaching I thought it was deceased but once I snapped a few images it woke. Spooked at the sight of me the sea turtle swam off into the blue expanse.
JUSTIN BURKLE PHOTOGRAPHY
Everyone is a photographer these days snapping photos at every opportunity with their smart phone. With my photography I attempt to capture high resolution images and gain perspective from obscure angles. Furthermore in an attempt to diversify my work from the norm and add value, I add in a painted border and handwritten anecdote pertaining to the subject matter. This layered look allows me to express myself and creates a truly unique piece of art.
THE PROCESS
All work is completed in house at my workshop in East Hampton. Image is printed on Epson 9900 printer using Canvas/Satin paper. The image is then mounted on Duraply where paint and handwriting is added to create a layered look. To complete the artwork a piece of glass/plexi is cut and a frame is fabricated from poplar/fir/cedar. All artwork is made specifically for you. Please allow 2 weeks to complete.
